Fun with Point of View

Managing to photograph an actual butterfly on my buddlia (aka Butterfly Bush) last week felt like getting a photo of a deer at a deer crossing.

In sorting through the different shots I took, I was struck what a difference the angle makes.

This photo is the classic, the one you usually think of when you think “monarch butterfly” :

And this one, looking at the “character” from a different angle, conveys an entirely different feel.

I’ll never think about butterflies the same way again!
